| Dimethocaine, also known as DMC or larocaine, is acompound with a stimulatory effect. This effectresembles that of cocaine, although dimethocaineappears to be less potent. Just like cocaine,dimethocaine is addictive due to its stimulation of thereward pathway in the brain. However, dimethocaine isa legal cocaine replacement in some countries and iseven listed by the European Monitoring Centre forDrugs and Drug Addiction under the category “syntheticcocaine derivatives”. The structure of dimethocaine,being a 4-aminobenzoic acid ester, resembles that ofprocaine. It is found as a white powder at roomtemperature. |
